NHL 2K9 Announced for Wii

Publisher 2K Sports announced Thursday that NHL 2K9, set for release this fall, will be the first officially licensed (NHL and NHLPA) hockey title on the Nintendo Wii. The Visual Concepts-developed title will use the Wii Remote as a hockey stick, with gesture-based controls added to the first Wii iteration of the long-running franchise.

"It's our goal this year to bring the fun back to hockey video games," said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. "NHL 2K9 for Wii includes the full feature set as available on other platforms, and added Wii Remote controls and other exciting features specific for the Wii console will allow dedicated fans the opportunity to fully enjoy and embrace NHL hockey in a brand new experience."

To commemorate the announcement, Nintendo icon Mario walked the red carpet at the 2008 NHL Awards in Toronto last night, greeting fans and spreading the word of the Wii. Washington Capitals winger Alexander Ovechkin, announced earlier this week as the cover athlete of the Russian version of competitor NHL 09, was awarded the Hart Memorial Trophy as the MVP of the National Hockey League.

I would like to see this franchise of games brought to a platform like the Motorola Krave (motorola.com/krave). It has a very large display and touch screen, so it would be nice to see how games like thisw would play on the Krave. Has anyone else used this phone yet?
